The Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District (TCRCD) is helping local landowners improve soil health by making high-quality compost more affordable.
Whether you’re looking for a large truckload delivered to your farm, ranch, vineyard or orchard, or you just want to pick up a small load for your lawn and garden, our Compost Assistance Program can help meet your soil amendment needs while reducing your costs.

Who is eligible?
Landowners and tenants with property located in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.
How do I participate?
Start by filling out the online Request Form. After submitting the form, you will receive a follow-up email containing a unique Customer ID, payment instructions, and information about the fulfillment process.
How do I pay?
Payment instructions are sent by email after submitting the online Request Form.
- For compost from Diestel: Payment is made directly to Diestel Family Ranch
- For compost from Republic Services: Payment is made to TCRCD by clicking the link.
Can I split a delivery with another person at a different site?
Yes, but only with the Commercial Compost from Waste Management, with an added $150 fee.
Diestel compost is not available for split loads.
How long will the program last?
Funding is awarded annually with no guarantee beyond the current fiscal year (July-June).
How is the program funded?
This program is made possible through funding from the CA Senate Bill 1383 Short-Lived Climate Pollutant Reduction Strategy, dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from landfills and the waste stream at large. One way to accomplish this is by diverting organic waste away from landfills and into sustainable processing systems such as composting.
