Soil Health

Producers can choose from a variety of practices and project types such as cover cropping, no-till/low-till, mulching, compost application, and conservation plantings. A Technical Assistance Provider will work with you to identify the most suitable options for your property, and help you put together a strong application.

Grants for Farm and Ranch Plans

Tuolumne County has been awarded funding to offer several types of land management plans for current or prospective farmers and ranchers. This is an exceptional opportunity for producers to work directly with subject experts to develop a comprehensive plan tailored specifically to the resource concerns and priorities of their operation and their land.  These plans will offer a strategic roadmap for the landowner to implement cohesive practices and projects across their landscape throughout the changing seasons and spanning several years. Having a “plan” is commonly the first step required for many federal or state funded grants for small farms or ranches, so why not start now! Plan options include grazing management, soil health, carbon farming, and irrigation management.
