Forest Stewardship

Big Hill

Your support is being requested for a future proposed project to enhance community wildfire resilience through forestry treatment practices in Tuolumne County. Our County has been identified as having significant wildfire risk and much of the County has been classified as very high Fire Hazard Severity. We would like to share an exciting opportunity happening in our community. Our beautiful forests require active management to reduce wildfire risk and maintain forest health. To help protect our forests we are partnering with My Sierra Woods, a program that helps landowners take action to restore the health of their forest and reduce wildfire risk for our community, approximately 2,000 acres in the Big Hill/Phoenix Lake area. With My Sierra Woods, we are offering you a free forester consultation. We’ve already been working with some of your neighbors, and now it’s your turn. Please complete this online form.

Summerville

The Summerville project is to reduce hazardous fuels on 48 acres in the vicinity of Tuolumne City and the Summerville High School and to create stand conditions that will improve stand health, minimize fire behavior, and protect sensitive infrastructure.
